A virulent strain of herpes virus will be released into Murray-Darling river system in bid to eradicate European carp, in what Science Minister Christopher Pyne has dubbed a "carp-aggedon". Australian Government estimates the $15m project will kill 95% of carp in river system over next 30 years.
