The Great Smog: Scientists have figured out the terrifying reason London fog killed 12,000 people. In Dec 1952, a dense fog fell lasting 4 days, making it hard to see & breathe. At the time, residents wrote it off as just another natural fog, but once it lifted, people started dying.
